Beautiful vintage diamond & dot ornament made by Corning Glass Works. One of the very first fancy shapes Corning produced (see last image).
It\'s interesting that the design of this ornament is distinctly Art Deco, coming as it did at the end of the 1930s. And what is so wonderful about this and other early Corning fancies is how rich and tactile their surfaces are. They really stand out for their beautiful patina, age (almost antique!) and historical significance. This one is just gorgeous, with lacquer the color of raspberry jam. Original \"US of A\" Scovill cap.
Dates to approximately 1939 - 1941. Shows the expected signs of age and use, including spots, paint wear, dark areas. Please see photos.
Measures 2\" high x 1 7/8\" in diameter.
This prewar Corning diamond ball deserves a place in any vintage American ornament collection.
