Vintage RPPC Emperor Franz Joseph I Austria Alpine Hunting Hat Artura Portrait For Sale

Vintage RPPC Emperor Franz Joseph I Austria Alpine Hunting Hat Artura Portrait.Postcard DetailsA vintage real photo postcard (RPPC) in vertical format: a close portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (1830-1916), the long-reigning Austro-Hungarian monarch, in his later years. He wears the Alpine hunting dress he made famous at Bad Ischl, a dark hunting hat with a large curved chamois brush (gamsbart) at the crown, with a dark suit and vest, white collar, and watch chain; his full white mustache and the great side whiskers framing his jaw were his signature. The divided back carries the ARTURA stamp box, the word printed on all four sides of the box, confirming a genuine real photo postcard on Eastman Kodak Artura paper. The card is unposted and the back is blank, with no caption or writing on either side.Condition NotesThe portrait is sharp with strong contrast. The dark areas of the image show pronounced silver mirroring and mottling, heaviest at the upper left and across the coat, and there is a faint horizontal scratch in the dark background at the left. The corners show light wear, heaviest at the top. The back is clean and blank with light toning, a small dark speck at the left edge, and a tiny dot near the bottom. No writing or postmark.Shipping and Handling◆ Packaging: Shipped securely in a protective plastic sleeve with card stock support inside a white envelope.
