Pair of vintage Swedish brass \"Liljan\" (Lily) candleholders designed by Ivar Åhlenius Björk for Ystad Metall, Sweden. Originally designed in 1939, the Liljan remains one of the most iconic forms in Scandinavian modern metalwork — four arched brass \"petals\" forming a stylized lily that elegantly cradles a taper candle.
The candleholders are crafted in solid polished brass, with the signature spread of curving leaves emerging from a cylindrical stem on a flat circular base. The form is both sculptural and functional, reading as a piece of art when unlit and as a graceful candleholder when in use.
Ivar Åhlenius Björk (1905–1978) was one of Sweden\'s leading mid-century metal designers, and his Liljan design for Ystad Metall is held in design collections internationally. The piece works beautifully in mid-century modern, Scandinavian, organic modern, and traditional interiors alike.
