Vintage Simonds Saw & Steel Co No 8 Straight back Hand saw 11 ppi crosscut Nib. Blade style: Straight Back with traditional Nib. Tooth density is 11 psi (points per inch). Manufactured 1922-1926. A hundred year old saw!! wow! Up for sale is a rare, highly collectible antique hand saw manufactured by iconic Simonds Saw and Steel company. This specific piece dates precisely between 1922 and 1926, an incredibly tight and desirable production window following Simonds' corporate name change but right before they stopped producing handsaws altogether. Has authentic Brass medallion that clearly reads "The Simonds Saw and Steel Company" with the central indentation intact. the no 8 blade profile features a true straight-back spine equipped with the traditional "saw nib" near the toe end - a beautiful decorative accent prized by vintage tool collectors. The blade still retains its faint, readable circular "Crescent Ground" logo stamp. 11 PPI configuation is stamped at heel with a "11" identifying this as a fine-tooth crosscut saw designed for clean, precise finish work. Condition - sold in honest, uncleaned, "as-found" estate condition. The blade shows natural surface oxidation and light rust pitting typical for its 100-year age. the steel remains structurally sound with no major bends.
