Vintage West-Cut K-5 Carbon Steel Fixed Blade Hunting Knife
Proudly Made in Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A. (Circa Late 1950s - 1960s)
Up for sale is a fantastic, highly collectible vintage West-Cut K-5 hunting knife, manufactured during the golden era of the Western States Cutlery Co.
This rugged utility pattern features a classic upswept carbon steel clip-point blade and a beautifully aged stacked leather handle.
Key Highlights & Structural Condition:
ROCK-SOLID HILT:
Unlike most vintage knives of this age where the leather washers shrink and leave a loose handle, the crossguard and aluminum bird's-head pommel on this knife are COMPLETELY TIGHT with absolutely zero wiggle or play. It feels excellent and sturdy in hand.
BLADE PRESERVATION:
The 4.5" high-carbon steel blade features a deep, authentic vintage patina and superficial surface wear consistent with honest age and light sharpening. No major gouges or deep pitting.
AUTHENTIC MARKS:
Clearly stamped "WEST-CUT / BOULDER, COLO. / MADE IN U.S.A." on the front tang, and "K-5" on the reverse.
Original Leather Sheath Condition:
Includes the original textured brown leather sheath with a fully functional retention strap and snap closure. Please note that the leather layers along the lower seam have naturally separated due to aging thread (as shown in the close-up photos). It is still structurally sound for display, but a quick re-stitch would restore it to full field-ready use. Length: 8.5 inches
Blade Length: 4.5 inchesPlease review all close-up photographs carefully to assess the precise cosmetic condition. This is a brilliant piece of American cutlery history—perfect for a Western/West-Cut collector or a vintage outdoor gear enthusiast!
