Vintage Westinghouse “Odorout” 4-watt ozone-producing ultraviolet lamp, dating to the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s.This unusual specialty lamp has the compact G4S11/S11-style globe envelope and E17 intermediate screw base associated with early ozone/deodorizing UV lamps. Westinghouse marketed Odorout lamps for odor control, air treatment, and germicidal/deodorizing applications in specialized fixtures. Period Westinghouse literature confirms the Odorout name was used for UV lamps that generated ozone for deodorizing applications. The internal construction is visible through the glass, including the characteristic heavy electrode/filament structure used in this style of lamp. These are not standard household incandescent bulbs and were intended to operate with appropriate ballast/current-limiting equipment.
