Vintage c.1949-51 Zippo 5-Barrel Burg Sonthofen Germany Engraved Lighter For Sale

The front is engraved “Burg-Sonthofen” above a detailed depiction of the complex and surrounding mountain scenery. The reverse is personally engraved “Dave Conner / Germany / 1952,” providing a dated period association with postwar Germany.

The lighter retains the early 5-barrel hinge configuration and block-letter Zippo bottom stamp with Pat. 2032695.

Unlike a standard production Zippo, the historical interest of this example comes from its period personal engraving, identifiable location and dated ownership inscription, making it an unusual piece of early postwar American and German souvenir history.

Very good vintage condition with surface scratches, light scuffs and age-related wear consistent with previous handling and use. The chrome finish remains bright overall, and the hand-engraved Burg-Sonthofen scene and dated personal inscription remain clearly visible.

The interior insert and chimney show wear, discoloration and residue consistent with age and use.

The lighter has been tested and is currently operating properly.
