Very Unique Gauge as General Electric ordered it with name and location where the gauge was to be used on it.Very Collectable.
My research indicates this was manufactured between 1910 & 1915.Online says: Combined with the heavy, precision-threaded brass glass retaining ring, aluminum dial, the early layout of the Ashcroft trademark and then in 1915 with the "National Preparedness Movement" as WW1 loomed companies started actively preparing for war in 1915 allindicates this gauge was manufactured between 1910-1915.
Ashcroft was one of the early pioneers of using white-finished aluminum dial faces in the early 1900's.
This gauge is of a full body brass construction utilizing a threaded internal brass ring to secure the glass. This was considered premium construction.
This is a non-working gauge. I did not try to remove the dial nor the needle not wanting to damage anything. However, the needle is attached to something heavy, when you move the gauge around you can feel something moving inside. The vacuum port on the back looks like it was cut off, maybe when it was removed or ??The Brass surround measures 10 3/4 inches across.The back measures 10 1/2 inches across.Gauge is 2 3/4 inches thickMounting holes are 1/4" in diameter.
The gauge weighs 9 pounds 13 ounces.
The brass has a beautiful patina, I took a few close-ups but as it is brass you could have it polished, all I did was wipe the dust off and cleaned the glass.
Shipping may jostle the internals so that the needle may not sit at zero when you receive it. To reset just unscrew the front cover and you should be able to get it to sit back zero, just have to fiddle with it a bit.
