Vollrath \"Unmarked\" #8 Dutch Oven:
$160.00

Presenting this Vollrath \"Unmarked\" #8 Dutch Oven. This dutch oven is in fair condition. Bottom is fairly smooth but it still has a lot of carbon buildup that I couldn\'t get off. It has some scratches and pit marks, but overall it sits flat is would be a great addition to any collection.

Key Features:

  • Type: Dutch Oven
  • Size: #8 - 5 Quart
  • Condition: Used
  • Restoration: Cleaned using electrolysis and/or lye, followed by a minimum of three layers of seasoning with assorted oils.

This Dutch Oven is ready for cooking but will continue to develop its non-stick surface over time with regular use. Cooking spray, butter, oil, fats, should be used to help prevent items from sticking and will also help with the continued seasoning process.

Vollrath Manufacturing, based in Wisconsin, produced high-quality cast iron cookware in the early-to-mid 20th century. Their skillets, Dutch ovens, and griddles are known for their exceptionally smooth cooking surfaces, unique curved handles, and flat bottoms (instead of heat rings). Lighter than some competitors, Vollrath cast iron is prized for its easy handling and excellent heat retention. Collectors value these pieces, especially those made between the 1930s–1950s, as they are less common than Griswold or Wagner but equally well-crafted.

Why Use Antique Cast Iron?

Antique cast iron cookware is often preferred over modern pieces because it has a smoother cooking surface, making it more non-stick once seasoned. It’s typically lighter and more finely crafted, with greater durability and historical value. Vintage cast iron also offers the benefit of sustainability, as it repurposes high-quality cookware that improves with use, making it both a functional and collectible item.

The skillet will be carefully packed to help ensure it arrives safely. If there are any issues upon delivery that appear to be related to packaging or shipping, please take clear photos of both the box and the item and contact us as soon as possible.

Shipping Info: Shipping costs are estimated at the time of listing based on the item’s weight and box dimensions. Items are typically shipped in new boxes with bubble wrap and packing peanuts; on occasion, a gently used box may be reused if it is in excellent condition.

DISCLAIMER: Please note that these pieces are of a vintage nature. Due to their age and prior use, they may exhibit minor imperfections and inconsistencies, such as residual carbon deposits, scratches, small pits or a minor “wobble”, which I believe can add to their inherent charm. ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD AS IS, however I take pride in ensuring each piece meets high standards, and in the rare instance that you\'re totally unsatisfied, I am committed to working with you for a resolution or offering a refund if necessary. Returns not related to product or shipping defects may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 20%. No refunds will be issued after 30 days from the date of shipping. Items must be returned in their original condition and in original packaging or additional fees may be applied.

I have made every effort to accurately represent their condition in the description and images however it is your responsibility to examine all accompanying images carefully and reach out for further clarification if necessary. All images are considered part of this description.
