Contract Date: January 31, 1958
Manufacturer: Southern Aviation Mfg. Co. Inc.
Up for sale is an authentic, beautifully preserved piece of Cold War military history: a genuine U.S. Army M-1951 Field Jacket from a documented 1958 military contract.
This jacket features the iconic 1st Army shoulder sleeve insignia patch period-sewn onto the sleeve. It is constructed from the rugged, vintage 9 oz. wind-resistant, water-repellent Cotton Sateen cloth in classic OG-107 Olive Green.
Unlike modern reproductions, this true 1950s piece features the heavy-duty silver-toned slide fastener zipper, button-down front storm flap, pointed collar, and button-adjustable cuffs. Excellent Wearable Vintage Condition. The cotton sateen shell retains strong, vibrant color saturation with beautiful, authentic light fading/patina consistent with age. Both tags are remarkably crisp and readable. The fabric is structurally sound. There is minor aesthetic fraying around the border of the shoulder patch as pictured. All snaps and the main zipper are fully functional and glide smoothly.
