\"Headed for a Crash-A Navy F4U fighter heads for a crash landing against the island of the Carrier Prince William upon bouncing off the deck during a test landing on Feb. 24, 1945. The right wing struck the island, pinning Lt.(JG) John H. Laney, Pilot, in the debris. He was pulled clear after suffering third degree burns. The Navy released this photo for general distribution, June 14, after prior publication in a service magazine, Aviation News.\"
