Vtg Anri 12\" hand carved wood virgin mary our lady jesus statue figure sculpture For Sale

A crowned Madonna holding the Christ child on her left arm, the mantle sweeping in a broad arc behind and around the figure. The original ANRI catalog page is included in the photos — this is Item 79138, listed at 25 cm / 10\" in the catalog, here presented in the larger polychrome finish. The catalog confirms the model and the maker without ambiguity.
The crown is genuine gold leaf with individual red-painted gem settings at the band — three stones visible from the front, each a separate painted point. The hair flows down the full length of the back in carved waves, strand by strand, painted in warm layered tones. From behind, the figure is fully worked — the hair mass, the mantle fold structure, the child\'s head visible above the shoulder. The drapery at the lower body pools and breaks at the base in deeply undercut folds, the interior painted gold where the mantle turns.
The child\'s hair is individually curled. The feet at the hem are separately carved and painted.
ANRI ceased all production in 2018. The carver who shaped this maple and the master painter and gilder who finished it — both trades are disappearing. This will never be made again, and pieces like it become harder to find every year.The Sculpture:
