Vtg Occupied Japan Dutch Salt Pepper Set Boy Girl Late1940's Original Corks For Sale

A lovelylittle Dutch boy and girl with her face turned down in a shy manner! This is a 3” set of small Occupied Japan salt and pepper shakersthat were probably manufactured in the late 1940's to capture theattention of the Western market that loved Dutch themed items in thekitchen during the 1930's through the 1960's. The boy's cap ishistorically inaccurate for a Dutch boy, we understand, and is shapedmore like the girl's cap because the manufacturer could use the samemold. The boy's cap should be more square and flatter. But thispair remains charming! No chips except for a fleabite on the tip of the girl's hat.. Original corks. Both markedOccupied Japan. On the back side they both have a little square ofadhesive tape with the number 16. We do not know what the number 16means for sure, but it might reflect the number in a collection or atan sale.
