It is made of a handsome hardwood, possibly cherry, and is hinged with intricate brass pieces, as well as having similar brass pieces on the corners and edges, and. in the center of the top which has an inlaid pierced oval piece of jade. The inside is lined with cushioned silk. The box dimensions are 8" x 5 and 3/8" x 3.75". There are brass handles on each side, and the closure is designed so a lock could be used. When wound, it plays the song "Everything is Beautiful".
