WW1 Veterans Group The Forty And Eight 40/8 French Boxcar Medal Original Ribbon.This is an antique World War I \"Forty and Eight\" (La Société des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux) veteran\'s medal fob. The bronze medal commemorates the small French railway boxcars that that were designed to hold either 40 men or 8 horses. Founded in 1920 as an honor society for the American Legion, the organization became independent in 1960 and remains active today. This medal comes with the original ribbon attached.
