WW2 British Civilian Identity Tag Exmouth Devon Blitz History Interest For Sale

A fascinating piece of British Home Front history from World War II. This is a privately commissioned white metal civilian identity disc or name fob, weighing 4.4g. The tag is clearly engraved with the name L.M. Hanger and features the home address 5, Market St. Exmouth. It also bears the official wartime National Registration code WFKI 115/3, which explicitly denotes the Exmouth Urban District under the 1939 National Registration Act.During the Blitz, civilians and home-front volunteers bought these durable fobs from local jewellers so they could be identified in emergencies. Market Street itself was located in an area heavily hit during a German air raid on Exmouth in 1941, giving this specific item a poignant connection to local wartime history. The disc is in good vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina and clear, legible stamping. A wonderful, tangible artifact for collectors of militaria, regional Devonshire history, or Blitz memorabilia. Please study pictures before purchasing.
