My research has indicated that there were a few variants as far as fuel gauges go for the A-20 depending on what type of missions, which branch of service and which country it was built for. Some of what I read, some configurations A-20's could have up to as many as 6 fuel tanks. Below between the >>>>> & <<<<< is what I found online at various sites. HOWEVER You are responsible for doing your own research to see if this gauge is the right type for your restoration, or what you were looking for to put on your shelf. As far as the "civilian" wires clipped off inside, the collector whom's estate I got this from had run juice to many of the items he had so they would light up, could be this was what he did with this one. I doubt he had an A-20 parked out in his shed.No Idea if this works or not, so, being sold "AS-IS".Looks like someone before me fiddled with it a bit, the civilian wiring. see photos. All I did to it was clean the glass off as it had a dirty finger print on it. (not mine) .I could not find any that have sold to get a comp, so I priced it dear and will take offers.
>>>>>> USAAF military-contract aircraft component manufactured during World War II.The specific alphanumeric markings on the plate and housing break down as follows:Data Plate Breakdown
  • MF'ERs No. EA-111-1: This is the manufacturer's part number.Liquidometer Corporation
  • "EA" prefixes for many of its classic military electric indicator models.
  • Order Number AC-24664: This is the official Army Air Forces (AAF) contract number. The "AC" prefix stands for Air Corps (or Material Command, Army Air Forces). A contract number in the 24000 sequence dates the production order straight to the height of WWII wartime manufacturing (typically around 1942–1943).
  • Spec. No. 94-27737-A: The US Army Air Forces specification standard to which the gauge was engineered and tested.
Inspection Stamps (Reverse Side)
  • LC22 inside a circle: This is the manufacturer’s internal quality control or inspection stamp. The "LC" stands for Liquidometer Corp., and "22" was the individual inspector's designated ID stamp.
  • AN X31 inside a circle: This is a crucial military verification mark. The AN stands for Army-Navy, indicating the part met joint Army-Navy aeronautical standards. The "X31" is the military acceptance stamp applied by an external USAAF inspector when taking delivery of the hardware for the government.
This is fuel gauge for a Douglas A-20 Havoc (specifically variants like the A-20G, H, or K) or a related A-20 multi-tank patrol or reconnaissance aircraft. The text on the dial perfectly maps to the Douglas A-20 Havoc fuel cell layout:The Tank Configuration Breakdown
  • Outer Wings L & R Cap 68 Gals: This matches the standard self-sealing outer wing panels utilized on late-production Douglas A-20 variants starting in 1942.
  • FUS Tank Cap 1590 Gals: This refers to the Fuselage (FUS) Tank total combined capacity. In the A-20 Havoc, the main fuel load was split between massive front and rear fuselage tanks flanking the bomb bay area. [
Historical ContextYour gauge was produced under Order Number AC-24664, placing its manufacturing contract right around 1942. During this time, the Douglas A-20 Havoc was one of the most widely produced light bombers utilized by the USAAF in both the European and Pacific theaters, famous for low-level strafing runs and close air support. The A-20 first saw Combat with the French in June 1940. Served with the British as the "Boston" it saw the most service with the Soviet Union as they ordered a lot of them through the lend lease programs using them as ground attack. The gauge denotes both US and Imperial Gallons.Because so many A-20s were scrapped immediately following the war or kept by the Soviet Union cockpit instruments with such specific, clear lettering are highly prized pieces of aviation history. <<<<<<<
