Design: The badge is designed in the form of a shield superimposed upon a sword, featuring a hammer and sickle at the top and a red ribbon bearing the inscription "NKVD." Materials and Production: Original badges issued between 1940 and 1941 were crafted from silver with gilding and hot enamel, while later versions were sometimes produced from bronze.
