Pair of original World War I Canadian military "CANADA" brass shoulder titles associated with the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF).
These distinctive metal shoulder titles were worn on Canadian military uniforms to identify Canadian personnel serving within the wider British Empire forces.
Both examples feature the word CANADA in large serif capital letters and are constructed in the desirable voided or open-letter style rather than with a solid background.
The Canadian War Museum documents numerous variations of CANADA shoulder titles manufactured during WWI, including straight and curved forms and both solid and voided construction.
In September 1917 Canadian military authorities stipulated that officers and other ranks would wear CANADA shoulder titles, with metal titles being the standard form for other ranks.
