Shows age-related wear from use and storage, including scattered moth holes/nips, wear to the wool, and wear/fraying to portions of the interior lining and buttonholes. Original WWII U.S. Marine Corps Wool Overcoat – 1942-43Offered is an original World War II-era U.S. Marine Corps long wool overcoat with its original period Quartermaster markings.
The interior is stamped “Quartermaster … U.S. Marine Corps … 1942-43” and the coat is additionally named/stenciled “S. A. RAYMOND.” A large “3S” marking is also present inside.
The coat retains three USMC Eagle, Globe & Anchor buttons. The front features three buttons with corresponding buttonholes as well as an additional set of buttonholes.Heavy olive-drab wool construction with long overcoat styling, wide collar, slash front pockets and partial interior lining.
This is an original military garment, not a reproduction.The coat remains quite presentable considering its age but does show approximately 80+ years of wear and storage. There are scattered moth holes/nips and areas of wear. The interior lining and some buttonholes show fraying and deterioration. No cleaning, restoration or repairs have been performed by the current owner.
The original 1942-43 USMC Quartermaster stamp, S. A. Raymond ownership marking and original EGA buttons make this an interesting named WWII Marine Corps uniform piece.
