WWII Frontline Letter. Advancing in Germany. March 1945. Stubborn Resistance.:
$11.00

This is an excellent original WWII American frontline combat soldier's letter, written in Germany in March 1945, during operations to advance on the Rhine and push into central Germany. The letter was written by an American soldier in the 758th Field Artillery Battalion, a separate Battalion, which was assigned at that time to the U.S. Ninth Army.

There is excellent content, particularly about the Germans continuing to fight on and invite further destruction to their own country, despite having no remaining hope of victory. (Please see scans)

"This leaves me still on the go, but feeling fine, because I'm sure this is what it takes to end the war with Germany, so I'm all for it.

I don't see why these simple-minded people don't give up. There's nothing they can possibly gain by continuing this war. It only means more death and destruction. If they stopped fighting now, it would still take 50 years to rebuild this country. And each day they prolong the war means another hundred days to rebuild."

An excellent original frontline letter.

*** This excellent frontline letter was written by Corporal Eugene C. Knapp, Battery B, 758th Field Artillery Battalion.

A fine original letter, written by a WWII combat soldier.

*** Please see the listing images for details regarding this soldier and his service. Note that there are no medals, badges, or research documents included in the listing.
