This photo and several otherswere found in Pennsylvania with some dated 1947 to 1950 Hollywood moviephotos. Given the letterbox with thename, position and team on the photo it appears this was some sort of promotionalphotograph that was part of a set but I cannot find another example of thisphotograph with this letterbox. Players discoveredin this group are from different teams so it was not a regional team issuedpromotion. Many of the images appear tobe taken around 1948 and many of the images are identical to photographs used for1950 Bowman football cards. 1 is ofTommy Thompson and is the same image as his 1948 Bowman card.
I guarantee these photographsto be 75 years old but given the letter box being added to an original negativeor an original photo and then a duplicate negative of that image being made, technicallythese photos would be considered Type 3 photos. However they are period to circa 1948 and are not modern reproductionsmade in the last 50 years. You can tellby the paper used.
Just a great image of thisBaltimore Colts player that was also used for one of his early football cards. Photo exhibits some minor curling and toningfrom age.
I have included an original1950 Bowman football card of Barwegan with the lot so you also get the originalfootball card pictured.
