Original lot of 27 American Tobacco Company leather inserts from the 1908 T58 series, issued as premiums in cigarette packs during the early 20th century. These distinctive leather cards are a classic tobacco-era collectible and are increasingly sought after for their unique material and subject matter.
This group offers strong variety and collector appeal, including:
- 12 college seals (examples include Franklin & Marshall, Princeton, Indiana, and others)
- 6 college pennants
- 2 state seals
- 4 floral designs
- 3 motto/quotation cards
The college-related pieces are particularly desirable, representing early American university imagery from the pre–World War I period. The embossed leather construction gives these a rich texture and visual depth not found in standard paper tobacco cards.
Condition is typical for the issue, average. Cards show wear including surface rubbing, edge wear, light creasing, and some toning. A few have stronger color and embossing than others. Overall, a very displayable and well-balanced group. Housed in plastic pages for protection (included).
