The physical material dates primarily from the late 19th through mid-20th centuries, while the genealogical research traces several family lines back into the 1600s.
The Cole family research includes Henry Stever Cole (1812–1862), born at Herkimer, New York, who married Ruth Honour Allen (1812–1894) at Auburn, New York, in 1835. Their children are recorded as Delos Orlando Cole, Anna Cole, James Hazen Cole and Chester Irving Cole. Henry is identified as a son of Andrew Cole and Anna Margaret Stever Cole.
Extensive Allen family genealogy identifies Ruth Honour Allen as a daughter of Rev. Parley Allen and Catherine Ter Bush. The research carries the Allen ancestry back to James Allen of Medfield, Massachusetts, in 1652. The related Ter Bush line is traced to Jan Ter Bush, who married Rachel Vermilye in New Amsterdam in 1663.
The archive also contains considerable Mygatt family material, including research concerning the early Connecticut Mygatt family and its possible relationship to the Mygatts of Cleveland, Ohio. One family photograph has extensive handwritten identification and genealogy on the reverse and references the Mygatt home on Case Avenue in Cleveland.

Georgiana Mygatt Gray was born into one of Greenwich, Connecticut\'s prominent families. She was the daughter of John Purdue Gray (Yale Class of 1884) and Mary Halle Mygatt Gray, and the granddaughter of Dr. Carl Elliott Martin, the well-known Greenwich physician whose name appears on the wedding invitation as the host of the marriage.
On May 15, 1912, she married Edmund Courtlandt Stanton at Christ Church, Greenwich, Connecticut. The ceremony was followed by a reception at 95 East Putnam Avenue, the Martin family residence, exactly as shown on your invitation.
Her husband, Edmund Courtlandt Stanton (1889–1948), was a Yale University graduate (Class of 1911), a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Theta Pi, and the prestigious Wolf\'s Head Society. He became a New York investment banker and senior partner in the brokerage firm Stanton & Company, and served on the New York Stock Exchange and New York Curb Exchange.
The couple were the union of two well-established New England families. The Gray, Martin, and Stanton families were socially prominent in Greenwich, Connecticut and New York,
