I have plugged it in and it works just fine. The water pushes up from the bottom and then flows through the coffee grounds. Stands 10 in. tall plus the lid. Measures 9 in. from spout to handle. The handle and knob on lid are made of bakelite. Model 7HP-75-2 Made of a shiny stainless steel. The inside could use a bit more cleaning to remove coffee stains near the bottom.
