View Larger Image   Craftsman Smooth Plane No. 4 Size Nice!   Description: This is a top quality smooth plane with extra nice finishing features! All the hardware is nickel plated including the screws, cap cover, cutter, and cutter cover plate. It has the original "CRAFTSMAN" sticker on the bed, and the "CRAFTSMAN" logo on the cap cover, and on the cutter blade "MADE IN U.S.A." also. It is also marked "MADE IN U.S.A." on the bed behind the frog. It is not corrugated on the bottom, but smooth and flat. Over 98% of the original paint is intact, red on the frog and black on the plane bottom. The handle and knob are lacquered rosewood stain, no cracks, very little wear, a few very minor, and small dings. There is no casting cracks, light wear, over 95% cutter stock intact, sharp cutter. A very nice quality plane for display or for use, ready to work! We have learned recently that many of the Craftsman planes were made by Dunlap, specifically for Craftsman, during the 1950's era or mid-1900's. This is one of the nicest examples we have seen to date in this size. It is actually nicer looking than most Stanley No. 4 planes, it's closest competitor. This plane is 9.75" long with a 2.0" wide cutter. Very nice looking! Great Quality!
