George Bretz was a noted photographer during the later half of the 19th century - receiving an appointment as a clerk in the quartermaster’s department of the Union Army in Tennessee during the Civil War. Later on he photographedMolly Maguires, radical coal miners who turned to violence against unfair labor practices in the coal fields.
In 2019 a photo albumfrom Geo Bretz sold at sale at Cowan\'s sales featuring40 of his photographs taken in the 1890\'s at the Kiowa Commanche Reservation near Fort Sill in the OklahomaTerritory. It included the photo of this woman. It sold fair condition. There is a long crease along the middle of the photo. It has rough edges and some water stain damage. Still very nice and very rare.
