1915 WELLER Pottery “SCANDIA” Pattern ARTS and CRAFTS Vase - Very HARD To Find !Here we have an early 1915 example of aWeller Scandia Arts & Crafts Mission Art Pottery Vase.
This vase is in the Arts & Crafts Mission Era Style form and looks to have been produced in/around 1915.
Unfortunately, this one is not perfect however the 3 chips are all located in the black glazed decoration regions so might be a fairly easy repair at least for color/glaze matching, other than the 3 mentioned chips, its basically perfect, no cracks or age lines at all, only minimal non-distracting crazing, nothing else to mention.
The unglazed bisque bottom is not signed/marked by the maker, as are other examples of this hard-to-find Weller pattern, however its attributed as Weller Art Pottery.
For comparable examples of the Scandia line, see the Bob and Sharon Huxford book entitled, The Collector\'s Encyclopedia of Weller Pottery, p. 302-303.
The colors are in a beautiful period golden yellow with rich black accents and they look excellent in this combination. This Scandia pattern vase has sharp contrasting glaze colors of creamy golden yellow and black, with a distinctive line and square dot design, the square dots are incised into the sides, the symmetrical lines are not.The body has a attractive bulbous base area with a long slender neck and body. The top rim is banded in black glaze as in the bottom of the “bulb like base”.
This is a fresh estate find andis a nice untouched original example with the right look for a early pottery collection.Despite the noted chips, its still a highly desirable and beautiful example of arts and crafts era pottery.

Measures about 7-1/2 inches tall, 2-1/4 inches directly across the pedestal base, about 3-1/4 inches across the widest middle belly, and about 1-1/2 inches across the mouth opening. Please see all photos provided. Thanks for looking.
