ANTIQUE HIGH CARBON SHARKSKIN GRIP SHORT SWORD+HUNTING SCENE CHAPPE 17-18th-c For Sale

This recent Estate find is an ANTIQUE SHORT SWORD believed to possibly be American or Turkish/German - Not Positive? around the 17th - 18th centuries according to previous estate owner, but not sure. Sword features a Shark Skin Grip/Handle and aged Ornate etchings. Sword details are below:

• Shark Skin Grip (handle)
• High Carbon Steel
• Brass Pommel/Chappe/Guard/Other pieces
• Hunting Scene on Chappe and other Brass Pieces
• Hammer Tap on End of Pommel
• Blade has etched designs on blade (but hard to see with age and wear)
• Blade length - appx. 53.5mm (appx. 21-1/8")
• Hilt length appx. - 12mm (4-3/4")
• Sword Blade Tip is a double blade - appx. last 3" (7.5mm)
• Arrow Design on Blade Edge near Hilt
• Appears to be Etching Design behind the Chappe (could be maker mark?, hard to see and we did not remove chappe - sword is in condition it was found)

Beautiful, old piece for a collection. High Carbon steel has some pitting and slight curve which are expected for use and age/wear. Shark Skin grip shows wear with wood visible underneath in some spots and guard is a little loose. Etchings and Design on blade are hard to see and show expected wear from use and age.
