8½ x 10 7/8, TLS on Anne Frank Stichting stationary, March 10, 1962, from R.Eldering, director of the Anne Frank Foundation regarding an exhibition ofchildren’s paintings to Ant. De Souza-Pihto, director, Livros de Brasil,Limitada, in Portugal.

“Inreply to your letter of 28th ult. We herewith have pleasure toinform you that we are forwarding some photographs of the exhibition, which washeld in our House, under separate cover.

“Wehave waited returning the children’s paintings, as we were discussing the possibilitywith our friends in Great Britain of having the exhibition in London, as theyseemed very keen. However, we have not yet received a definite reply as to timeand place of this exhibition.

“Theexhibition here in ‘Anne Frank-House’ was opened on the 8th ofDecember by the ambassador of Portugal, Mr. Dr. J.B. Ferreira da Fonseca. Hearrived in the company of his wife and daughter, and also members of theAmsterdam and international press were present. Apart from reports in thepress, we had also the cooperation of the school journals, and in this way manyyoungsters have visited the exhibition during their Christmas holidays. About650 people visited the exhibition in all.

ANNEFRANK and her family went into hiding at Prinsengracht 263, which consisted ofa main house and an annex. Otto Frank’scompany was in the main house. Otto’shelpers kept the company running. The people in hiding lived in the annex fortwo years when they were discovered.
