Vintage large wood carved lamp base, made of nicely polishedbeautiful grain exotic ebony wood. Intricately detailed carvings with figures of manand woman, tendrils and flowers with scenes from the Ramayana in the woods. Thetop of the lamp base is painted red and yellow. The remaining parts appear to besmoothly polished but unfinished, showing the beautiful wood grain.
Ramayana (Rama’s journey) is one of the two major Sanskritepics of ancient India written by sage Valmiki around 500 BCE. It presents theteachings of ancient Hindu in narrative allegory with philosophical and ethicalelements. The book narrates the life of Rama, prince of the legendary kingdomof Kosala. It is considered a sacred book, read by millions of people everyyear. The story follows his fourteen-year exile to the forest with his wifeSita and his eventual return to be crowned king after saving his wife from theevil kidnaper Ravana.
Very well made and skillfully carved. Extremely beautifuland unique. In great condition except for some cracks on tendrils and base ofthe wood.
