B-17G “HOMESICK ANGEL’S”? CREWMAN MASTER SERGEANT JOHN H. JOHNSON JR.:
$25.00

Later mounted “screened” print from the original negative shows three members of a World War II B-17G Flying Fortress crew with hand-signed autograph by one of the crew members reads, “To Spence - M/Sgt John H. Johnson Jr.”. (standing in middle)Nose art on the plane identifies this as possibly a plane from the 385th BG, 549th BS, 42-107135 B-17 \"Homesick Angel\". I found another B-17G with similar but slightly different nose art where it shows the same lady only slightly different hair style and she is surrounded by clouds. Also this plane has an ‘S after ANGEL. So not sure if this is the same plane with a similar repaint job. The Flak took her down in Holland.I believe this photograph came from the estate of Lt Dale Spencer.Second Lieutenant (Air Corps) Dale Francis Spencer United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as Pilot of a P-51 Fighter Airplane in the 376th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, EIGHTH Air Force, in aerial combat against enemy forces on 29 May 1944, in the European Theater of Action. On this date Second Lieutenant Spencer shot down four enemy aircraft in a single mission.Photograph measures 8 x 10 inches and is in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity. Please email with any questions and please \"VIEW SELLERS OTHER ITEMS\". Thanks.
