R&A style German wall clock unsigned but attributed to Junghans, Schramberg or baden-wurttemberg, We won at storage sale and is in unknown working condition, we had it appriased at and came up w insurance value of $175 and following information:Stained beechwood or fruitwood, dual barrel springs, eight-day time and hour/half hourly striking, R&A style German wall clock, unsigned but attributed to Junghans, Schramberg, Baden-Württemberg, southwest Germany, circa 1900-1910.Case: 26-inch x 13.5-inch x 6.5-inch, stained beechwood or fruitwood wall clock case with concave overhung flat top pediment, placed above a rectilinear glazed dial door. The door rails have a darker stain and have lighter pillars on the side rails with bulbous turning (3) top and bottom. The glazed center is rectangular with half round mouldings flanking the glass. One is able to see the dial and the pendulum. Below is a gently tapered pedestal, left in a darker stain with three teardrop finials, one on each side and one at the base. Dial: Unsigned round white two-part porcelain dial with enameled black Roman hours, closed bar minute track, German Chippendale style steel hands, two winding apertures for the springs and is unsigned. The dial is attached to the movement and they slide into a metal seat within the case and tighten with thumb screws. There is a white porcelain measure rule to balance the pendulum and movement. It also has a long-feathered arrow, suggesting Junghans or the Hamburg American clock company also located in Schramburg. The head of each company were relatives and often collaborated together. Movement: Solid brass rectangular movement with brass tubular posts screwed together at the rear plate with actual screws suggesting a post 1900 example. There is an anchor recoil escapement, flywheel with rack and snail striking system, powered by two-barrel springs, one spring appears to be broken as shown in one of the photos. The clock was made to run for eight days with hour and half hour striking on a coiled gong attached to the backboard which acted as a sounding board. A steel and brass gridiron pendulum rod hangs down from the pendulum spring and rod with a white porcelain center where the French initials for faster and slower reside, R & A. Condition: case – In very nice condition with some parts having the old darker finish removed and other parts left dark. No major damage to the case. This clock may be missing its entire pediment (see comparables below) . . . Dial: clean, unsigned but in very good condition. . .Movement – genuine original but not functioning because of a broken mainspring.
