Artist Bio: Henri Louis Levasseur was a French sculptor born in Paris on April 16, 1853. He received his training from Eugene Delaplanche, Emile Thomas, and Auguste Dumont. Levasseur started exhibiting his artwork at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1882. He won several awards and medals throughout his career, including a first-class medal in 1898 and a silver medal in 1900 at the same exhibition. In 1900, at the Exposition Universelle, Levasseur showcased a bronze sculpture of Jeanne d'Arc adorned with silver, gold, pearls, and rubies. The Art Nouveau movement influenced his work, and his love for naturalism continued to impact the Art Nouveau style throughout the 1900s. Levasseur's original works are displayed in collections worldwide, such as the Grohmann Museum in Milwaukee, the Columbia Museum of Art in South Carolina, and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
