This listing is for the extra large fossil plate pictured from the famous fossil locality near Socorro, New Mexico. This well-known fossil locality is known for its rich geological history, including marine fossils that can be found in the region. SOCORRO, New Mexico:
The area around Socorro contains sedimentary rocks that date back to the Late Cretaceous period, which is approximately 75 to 70 million years ago. During this time, a shallow sea covered parts of what is now New Mexico. As a result, marine fossils from this period are relatively common in the area.
