Navajo Patsy Spencer Bracelet Ring Pin-Pend Set Mosaic Inlay Eototo Kachina 1977:
$1250.00

Welcome!

This mosaic inlay three piece set is creative and strikingly gorgeous. The colors are bright and the inlay consists of various tiny pieces of stone hand cut to fit and hand buffed and set individually. It is a unique set to my experience which is made to represent the kachina EOTOTO, who is the chief of all kachinas and knows all of the ceremonies. He is the spiritual counterpart of the village chief and as such is called \"father\" of all the kachinas. He controls the seasons, among other things. This set is just so expertly executed in mosaic inlay, and has such a uniquely beautiful style I found it irresistible. It was made by Navajo Patsy Spencer, who signed all the pieces with her name and as Indian Hand Made. They are also dated March of 1977 and signed as sterling silver. The set is in superb condition, and it still has original price markings of $1400 for the set. In 1977, $1400, adjusted for inflation, would cost $5122.11 in 2011. Frankly, the quality of these pieces would warrant such a price. It\'s just a wonderful set in every possible way.

The weight is very solid for each piece. The bracelet is 62.3grams and the pin/pendant is 20.7grams and the ring is 20.9 grams, so the entire set weighs 101.9 grams. The bracelet is 5-3/4\" end to end inside measurement of the silver alone and the gap is currently 1-1/8\" wide. There is flexibility there but it\'s currently measuring 6-7/8\" total. The bracelet width is 1-5/8\" in the center and tapers to about 7/16\" at the terminals. The bracelet is set on a foundation of three heavy wires, rounded on top and flat on the bottom. It has the kachina as the central figure and the side pieces are inlaid feathers in three colors -- all natural stones are used throughout. The feathers on the side pieces are yellow lip shell, coral and turquoise. The skill of the artist is apparent in the tiny thin line of inlaid coral on those feathers. She didn\'t stint on anything. The Kachina eyes, for example are round inlay of black jet and round turquoise inlaid in the center of those small round jet inlays. The kachina is mother of pearl, jet, coral, turquoise, yellow lip shell, malachite all with gorgeous detail work. The figures on the ring and the pendant are the same as the central figure on the bracelet. The ring is size 7, has a thick heavy shank, so can be tapped up at least a half size or even one size perhaps, and can be easily sized smaller or larger withhold solder, laser. The face of the ring is 1-3/4\" by 1-3/4\" and it weighs 20.9grams. The pendant is also a pin and it is a similar size to the ring face, of about 1-3/4\" x 1-3/4\" and the weight is 20.7 grams. The pin mechanism locks perfectly and there is a nice solid bail for use as a pendant. Though the faces of the ring, pendant/pin and bracelet are a similar size these are not cookie cutter pieces and there are slight differences in each piece. The more you look at them, the more you appreciate the work on them. Sound inlays are rounded and some flat, great movement and dimensionality. They are masterpieces of wearable art.

Although I\'ve seen her work referred to as Zuni, \"The Little Book of Marks on Southwestern Silver\" says she is Navajo and the current hallmark books say she is Navajo, as well. She is surely one of the best mosaic inlay artists. When you see these in person, you\'ll be amazed! Highly collectible and true wearable art, this is a set that is so creative and gorgeous. It is like no other! It will provide joy wherever it is seen.
