For sale is this rare authentic late or post medieval bronze ring with a glass intaglio stone in the center. The intaglio is a round piece of clear glass with a recessed bust. This would have functioned as a “stamp” of sorts, and could have been pressed into clay or wax. Pieces in this style were most common in use during the 1400-1600’s period, making me believe that this piece fits somewhere in that time frame. The bust appears to be a style popular throughout Kievan Rus areas, so it is likely that it originated from that region. This particular piece is in very good condition, with exception of the bend in the ring band portion (although study the photos carefully to see the exact condition). The ring does have a bend in the band portion (note from the photo of it on its side). The metal has been cleaned, but has managed to maintain some of its original patina. Pieces like this can go for a lot of money at the big sale houses! The would be a great display piece, teaching tool, or conversation piece! Don’t pass it up!
