In 1918 Giuseppe Zanini, in Sesto Calende (Verbania) began the production of hard rubber, gold-plated and retractable pens.
Tracing the milestones of Zanini\'s life is no easy task, however it is documented that while his early ventures into penmaking and stationery sales date in the early 1919, it was in March 1920 that, in collaboration with a partner by the name of Clerici, Zanini founded a new company with the business name \"Fabbrica e Commercio di Penne Stilografiche e Raffinati Oggetti per Arti Grafiche\" (Manufacture and sale of fountain pens and luxury accessories for the graphic arts) which would later become Ancora.
The exclusive technical innovations and the quality of the materials explain why pen collectors from all over the world dream of owning them.
The Siena fountain pen is in lobster-colored ebonite, one of the first materials used in the production of fountain pens, with a mother-of-pearl coating.
The mother of pearl is obtained from the precious oysters of the Sulu Sea, in the Pacific Ocean.
For each pen, a single piece of mother-of-pearl is chosen which is then patiently worked, eliminating the excess material, making it smooth and shiny, to eventually become an integral part of the body of the pen.
The combination of white, silver and pink reflections make each pen different from the others and therefore unique.
The pen is further embellished with precious rings in 18k gilded 925 silver whose elegant design is obtained with an exclusive technique that reproduces the magical effect of the bas-relief.The soul of the pen is the result of the highest innovation: the filling system is the smallest in the world (40mm), but the capacity of the ink tank is almost double that of a normal fountain pen.
The pen is contained in its elegant original box and accompanied by a certificate of guarantee and authenticity.
Very unfortunately in 23 years the leather box has had some conservation problems, however keeping the pen in perfect condition (box photos included).
