For your consideration is a extremely rare bill head / letterhead from Kentucky Tavern Whiskey out of El Paso Texas. It also has Juarez Mexico on it. This is a letter written to Thomas Bonfils who is the Clerk and Recorder of Denver Colorado. Here is a little information on him and his family. His family was very prominent in Colorado.
Thomas L. Bonfils was born on Born in 1855 and died in Oct 1949. Was in the Navy. he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1881 Annapolis Maryland. He was well known in the naval academy for his antics and demerits. He was honorably discharged June 30, 1883. He moved to Denver and lived with his brother in the well known house, The Bonfils mansion. He became the Clerk and Recorder for Denver, Colorado and held the position for many years.His family was very well known in high society. His brother Franklin purchased the evening post in 1895 and renamed it Denver Post. His daughter Helen, was a actress, took charge of the Denver Post, became a serious philanthropist and helped with the Central city Opera, University of Denver, Denver Zoo, the Colorado symphony Orchestra and developed the Bell Bonfils memorial blood center. She built the Elitch Theater and Bonfils theater on East Colfax. Thomas lived with his niece after her father, Fredrick, died.His brother Dr. William D. Bonfils was a respected Dental Surgeon. His father was a lawyer and a respected Judge in Missouri.This was found in a binder and it has 2 holes in it where it was bounded. (pics show)
