This rare Volkstedt figurine group features a man and a women behind a pianola, crafted from antique porcelain in Germany in 1920. The romantic theme and art deco style add a touch of sophistication. This piece has beautiful, bright colors, and a somewhat naughty scene of the man who wants to lay a hand on the woman's breast.
The item is marked on the bottom with the Volksted mark in underglaze blue; see photos.
The small size of 6 inches in length, 6 inches in height and 8 1/2 inches in width, along with the multi-color design, make it a perfect addition to any room in any occasion. The piece is in overall good condition considering its age - the only damage is that there is a missing tip of the little finger of the left hand of the man; see photo #3.
Note: Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur is one of the last remaining great German porcelain manufacturers in the tradition of the 18th Century, the golden age of German porcelain. Volkstedt gained a reputation for its finely painted and carefully modeled porcelain figures that it holds for collectors today.
