Antique Harrach, soft mint green, opaline, uranium glass, mantle vases, circa 1800’s.
These soft green, hand painted vases are decorated with beautifully intricate flower and leaf motifs, with gold gilt scrollwork.
The soft mint green color descends from a dark green band at the top and blends into a darker, mossy green, less defined band at the base.
The vases are 10.5” tall and 5” wide, and they each have smooth polished pontils.
Wear is better than typical for their age, no cracks, no repairs, very little paint wear, and the tiniest of flea bites at the rims. (Very hard to see, can be felt, but extremely minute.)
These vases glow so beautifully under UV Black Light, and are a collector’s dream!!!!
Harrach glass is the term for glassware produced by the Harrach glassworks in Bohemia. The facility opened in either 1712 or 1714, there is some question as to the exact date and was under the direct ownership of Count Arnost Harrach by 1763. Harrach is the second oldest glass factory still functioning, and the glassware produced there has always set the quality standard. The company remains in operation today under the name: Sklarna Novosad & Syn Hohemia Harrachov.
For the UV Black Light, I used standard 395 UV flashlights from Amazon.
