Zuni attr Alice Leekya Homer Random Freestyle Inlay Earrings Exquisite Turquoise:
$799.00

Welcome!

WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: One of Zuni\'s great artists devised this style of inlay and this is a good example of her work, dating to the 1960s. Alice Leekya Homer is famous for this random inlay or freestyle inlay work and she used the most gorgeous natural turquoise in these earrings. The matching pin is available separately and I\'ve included pictures above and it is an excellent match, both have matching turquoise and date to the same period.

The color of the stones in these earrings is brilliant and intense, much more wonderful than the pictures display. The aesthetics are superb, a very pleasing aesthetic. These earrings are rare. I have had many pieces by Alice Leekya Homer done in this style of work but I haven\'t found other earrings. They are not signed though absolutely are made by Alice Leekya Homer; a matching bolo and bracelet which have been sold are signed. I have a matching manta pin which appears in pictures above. These huge brooches were especially appreciated by the Zuni and Navajo people, and were worn by them, especially to ceremonials, on shirts which were laden with jewelry. The huge pieces like the pin were especially valued. The earrings offered here would be perfect with the pin.

BACKGROUND: Alice Leekya Homer is the daughter of the renowned Leekya Deyuse and married Bernard Homer Sr. She became famous herself for pieces like these which have characteristics all her own. The inlay pattern is called Random Inlay by her family and has been referred to as \"freestyle inlay\" but it looks like a floral pattern to me. A poetic friend said she loves to look at it as if looking up to a tree and seeing the foliage. That is how I see these works as well; so calming and gorgeous, always a fulfilling pleasure to see, to hold and to wear.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage, wearable and collectible condition with normal age related wear. Converted to posts from screw backs.

MEASUREMENTS:

• earrings measures 1-3/16\" x 5/8\"

• earrings are unsigned but guaranteed in the attribution to Alice Leekya Homer

• not marked for metal content which is usual for those times, but it\'s sterling silver .925

• weight is 4.78grams and 5grams

SUMMARY: Superb, exquisite flattering earrings, of intense coloration with natural turquoise inlaid in the random inlay style for which Alice Leekya Homer is famous. You can\'t do better than this for a wonderful statement and if you can pick up the matching manta pin, available separately you\'ll have an incredible matching set. So collectible, you\'ll always adore these earrings. I love to wear them and I know you will too.

Take a look at my store.

Yes, I sometimes can take reasonable offers.

I request payment by PayPal in two days, but planned in advance of purchase, alternate payment methods and time payments can generally be arranged.

I generally ship same day. Domestic: FREE shipping with Tracking always and Signature Confirmation included on shipments over $749.

International buyers pay actual shipping cost if I’m shipping myself rather than using ’s Global Shipping service, and International buyers are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. Please discuss changing shipping method prior to purchase. My shipping defaults to Express International, which is tracked and insured, but I can use Priority Mail International. It\'s less expensive and is also tracked. First Class International is no longer offered by the US Postal Service. I charge the actual shipping cost and since shipping to each country costs a different amount, I will charge a little extra and refund the exact difference once I can put your address in and print a shipping label. I am no longer shipping to Italy and China, but can make exceptions if you speak with me about it, especially if you are a prior customer.

I\'m no longer accepting returns having refunded $1350 for a bracelet I never received. Returns must be in the same condition they were shipped. If I make a significant mistake in a listing I\'ll always give you a full refund. The 20% restocking fee does not apply when the mistake is mine. I care that you\'re happy and about my accuracy, and will always stand behind my work. My attributions are guaranteed for my lifetime.

When I include pages from published books in my listings it is in accordance with Fair Use Law, which permits the use of source material for discussion, reference, education and criticism.

Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

Everything I sell comes from my personal collection or is something that I would include in my personal collection. Most pieces are museum worthy and gallery suitable, sold to you at great pricing. I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you the best. I want you to be able to rely on me for top quality, superb items that are often unique and rare examples of old antique vintage southwest, indian, native american and fine gold and gemstones, whether you\'re starting a collection or adding to one, or want something great to wear or gift. My goal is that all my buyers are delighted, that my special pieces find the right homes.
