Up for sale is a wonderful, highly unique piece of 1920s New York City architectural and corporate history. This authentic 1922 Metropolitan Life Insurance Company wall-hanging premium receipt book pocket holder features a stunning, crisp full-page engraving of the historic Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Tower at Madison Square, New York. When constructed, this legendary building stood as the tallest skyscraper in the world. The artwork beautifully details the grand tower along with period streetcars, early automobiles, and pedestrians on the avenues below.
The reverse side contains the official company instructions for the policyholder, explicitly marked "Form 50 / Jan. 1922." It features fantastic period text directives, including the bold warning: "DON'T PAY PREMIUMS TO STRANGERS." Designed to be hung on a wall to store the policyholder's payment booklet, these ephemeral paper pockets are incredibly scarce today. A fantastic addition for any collector of vintage insurance ephemera, early NYC skyscraper history, or historic Manhattan architectural prints.
