Offered is an early period printing of the Proclamation of Israel Independence, issued at Tel Aviv on May 14, 1948 (5th of Iyar, 5708).
The proclamation is printed in two columns, with the English text on the left and Hebrew text on the right, surrounded by a decorative black border.
Measurements:
- Overall paper: approximately 8 1/4\" × 14\"
- Printed area: approximately 8\" × 12\"
This example came from an old estate collection containing numerous period items and was found rolled together with a March 1, 1945 New York Sun “The Spirit of ’76 Marches On” wartime reprint.
The sheet shows age-related toning, fold/roll creases, handling wear and minor edge imperfections as visible in the photographs. Printing is clear and displays well.
The English heading reads:
“Proclamation of Israel Independence
Issued at Tel Aviv on May 14, 1948 (5th of Iyar, 5708)”
This is being represented as a 1948–1949 period printing/reproduction of the proclamation, not as the original signed manuscript.
