Beautiful pair of antique Art Deco “Pixie Girl” reading bookends, dating to approximately the 1930s and attributed to J.B. Hirsch.
Each features a seated girl in a striking red outfit with an elongated pointed hat, reading an open book. The painted metal figures are mounted on cream-colored, book-shaped marble bases with carved page and spine details.
Both figures are complete, with no apparent broken or missing pieces. The original red finish has areas of chipped paint exposing the gray metal beneath, along with additional scuffs and age-related wear. Both marble bases show minor chips, edge wear, and surface marks. Felt remains on both undersides, with some peeling on both, but more so on one.
Each bookend weighs approximately 2 lb 6.5 oz.
Beautifully detailed antique collectibles with wonderful Art Deco character.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they document the condition of both bookends from multiple angles.
Sold as a matching pair.
