Item Description:
This listing is for an extraordinary, museum-quality authentic Antique Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) dating to the early 1900s (Edwardian Era). The studio portrait features an elegant young woman formally seated in an ornate, beautifully upholstered carved wooden chair against a classic painted photography studio backdrop.
Notable Anatomical & Historical Feature:
What makes this specific piece an exceptional and highly desirable find for collectors of early medical history, unique anatomical documentation, or historical curiosities is the prominent appearance of the woman's left arm and hand resting along her lap. Captured in incredibly sharp, crisp focus, her left hand displays a very distinct and striking anatomical webbing of the fingers (syndactyly). Because her hand is completely still and perfectly lit, it serves as a wonderful, dignified, and clear historical record of a natural biological variation rather than an accidental camera blur or movement artifact. It stands out immediately as a fascinating historical talking piece and the central focal point of the portrait.
Visual & Fashion Details:
The woman is beautifully styled in premium turn-of-the-century fashion, wearing an elegant, crisp white high-collared lace blouse with intricate pin-tuck details and a formal brooch pin at the neck. Her hair is perfectly styled in a classic, voluminous Gibson Girl pompadour updo. She carries a gentle, poised, and dignified expression that offers a flawless look into the portrait traditions of the Edwardian era.
Condition Notes:
This antique RPPC is in exceptional, crisp condition with beautiful contrast, rich deep charcoal and white tones, and excellent clarity. The paper card stock shows only the lightest, age-appropriate storage wear along the outer margins. The reverse side of the postcard is completely blank and unposted, leaving this fascinating subject mysteriously unidentified.
