Patented on January 8, 1882, this heavy Victorian-era bank features incredibly detailed, raised-relief scenic panels on all four sides, including an elephant with a rider and a pair of giraffes framed by palm trees. The header above the locking front door is crisply embossed with the word \"SPORT\".
This bank comes complete with its original vintage brass key. The locking mechanism functions, allowing the front door to unlock and open to reveal the original two-chamber internal divider slot. The underside of the base plate features the clear, original patent stamp: \"PAT. JANY 8 1882\".
