Antique 1923 Lenox Belleek Meadowbrook Three-Piece Coffee Service
Three-piece Lenox Belleek porcelain coffee service in the Meadowbrook pattern: coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer. The service uses Lenox forms 371, 372, and 373, square plinth bases, tall tapered bodies, angular open handles, and urn-form finials in Neoclassical Revival. Deep cobalt band (\'Chinese Blue\'), floral-basket panels and hand-brushed gilt decoration.
The covered sugar is inscribed beneath, \'To Dr. & Mrs. Getz. from Mary and Laura. 1923.\' The coffee pot and creamer are each hand-inscribed \'Laura A. Zimmerman.\' It\'s most likely these were inscribed during the initial order, though perhaps a small chance the set dates as early as 1915.
The coffee pot measures just under 11 inches high with its lid. The creamer measures approx 6 inches high. Covered sugar measures approx 6 inches high and 6 1/2 inches across the handles. The Meadowbrook design had a few different types of handles and this is the less common variant. There does not appear to be a different name for this handle style, but the forms listed do specify these shapes. Happy to hear any more specific on that if you\'re in the know.
Condition
- Very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or obvious damage.
- Porcelain retains nice even gloss, all three interiors are clean without staining.
- The sugar-bowl lid has one small rubbed spot along its gilt rim. (photos)
- The coffee-pot rim has light gilding wear where the lid settles into place. (photos)
- The creamer has one very small area of slightly thin gilding immediately left of a floral panel. (photos)
- The hand-brushed gilding has slight tonal variation, particularly across the handles, consistent with its original application.
- Small original manufacturing variations are present in the porcelain, and very faint typical age-related wear.
- Unglazed bases show visible shelf wear. All three pieces sit level and remain stable.
