NOTE CHIPPED BONE FACE IN PHOTOS 3&4.
Antique WALDEN KNIFE CO pocket knife made in Walden, New York.
Walden Knife Co. was an important early American cutlery manufacturer operating in Walden, New York during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This example has attractive old jigged bone handles, metal bolsters and shield. The tang is clearly marked WALDEN KNIFE CO. The opposite tang also appears to retain part of the original pattern number beginning with “6,” but the remaining characters are not sufficiently clear for me to positively identify the exact Walden pattern. I have therefore intentionally not assigned a specific model number.
This is an honest old knife showing considerable age and use.
Condition notes:
• Original antique used condition
• Jigged bone handles
• Portion of handle material is missing/chipped on one side
• Old paint/paint overspray visible on the shield side
• Blades show patina, scratches, sharpening and age-related wear
• Tang markings remain visible
• Exact pattern/model number is unknown
I have not aggressively cleaned or restored the knife in order to preserve its antique character and patina.
Please use the photographs as an important part of the description. This knife is being sold as a vintage/antique collectible and is not represented as new, restored or mint.
A nice genuine early American Walden Knife Co. survivor for a vintage pocketknife or American cutlery collection.
