Antique Wilson Mfg Co Bit Brace Drill New London CT Pre-Civil War 1830s.Up for sale/sale is an authentic pre-Civil War wrought iron bit brace drill manufactured by Wilson Manufacturing Co. out of New London, Connecticut.Maker Mark: Clear, legible stamp reading ⁠WILSON MFG / NEW LONDON CO⁠ on the chuck body.Mechanism: Features an early spring-lever thumb latch mechanism for holding square-taper auger bits. Mechanism works perfectly. Head Assembly: cast-iron head with a solid brass threaded top cap stamped ⁠1 1/2⁠.Measurements: Approximately 12” overall length with an ~8" sweep (refer to photo measurements).Condition: Excellent vintage patina for its age.
